MOSCOW, 22 Feb. Russian electronic warfare systems jam the FPV drones of the Ukrainian army, so they cannot become a full-fledged replacement for artillery, American military expert Mark Sleboda said in an interview with journalist Danny Haiphong.
“»The Ukrainians say they can perform the same tasks FPV drones. <…> Okay, all types of drones have become the most important part of this conflict — reconnaissance, strike, and so on. <…> But they cannot replace artillery. They do not have the range that artillery has, there is no corresponding powerful filling and penetrating ability, they are highly vulnerable due to the dominance of Russian electronic warfare systems,” the specialist noted.
According to him, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are not only depleting stocks of conventional shells, but have also begun to experience a shortage of UAVs, which are used in large quantities . The military-industrial capacity of Kyiv cannot cover the needs of the army due to the high intensity of fighting, Sleboda summed up.
Western analysts have repeatedly pointed out the effectiveness of Russian electronic warfare systems. Thus, former Pentagon adviser Colonel Douglas McGregor said that domestic systems have enormous capabilities to suppress the electronics of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
