WASHINGTON, February 23 The United States has imposed sanctions against the Russian shipping company Sovcomflot, the US Treasury said in a statement released on Friday.
In addition to the company itself, restrictions apply The US Treasury also hit 14 tankers carrying crude oil.
The Ministry of Finance also published a general license, according to which the United States allows financial transactions until April 8 with Sovcomflot vessels in cases where the cargo was placed on them before February 23.
A little earlier, US Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Wally Adeyemo said that the American department was preparing to introduce additional restrictions regarding tightening the price ceiling for Russian oil.
Earlier on Friday, the US Treasury, Commerce and State Departments announced the introduction of large-scale sanctions against Russia, which were timed to coincide with the second anniversary of the Russian special operation in Ukraine and the death of Alexei Navalny. In total, about 500 individuals and organizations, including from third countries, were added to the sanctions lists.
