Friends reported the beating of an activist and tour guide detained near a Moscow cemetery after Navalny's funeral

Activist and tour guide Alexander Myslenkov, detained yesterday near the Borisov cemetery after the funeral of Alexei Navalny, was beaten by police, his friends write about this on Facebook.

In particular, Oleg Elanchik, Maria Uvarova and Natalya Garcia write about the beating.

Yesterday, a friend of Myslenkova told OVD-Info about the beating. According to her, the police demanded that the activist give his phone.

“Seeing that Alexander was confused whether to hand over his phone or not, the officer punched him twice in the solar plexus area. Alexander groaned and fell on the railing. There were about five or six employees standing around,” said the woman, whose name was not specified.

It is not said where exactly the man was beaten. The moment of Myslenkov’s arrest was caught on video; later it became known that the activist was in the Brateevo police station, he was charged with an administrative article about “discrediting” the military (20.3.3 of the Administrative Code), and that a lawyer was not allowed to see him. As a result, because of the badge on his jacket with the Ukrainian and Russian flags and the words “No to war,” he was fined 50 thousand rubles.

Garcia writes that in the police department, “besides the police, there were ‘eshniki,’” eshniks» they want a criminal offense, not just an administrative one,” but does not provide details.

Updated at 21:08. Added information about the fine under the article on “discredit.”
