
WASHINGTON, March 3 Paris Sector Ceasefire Initiative Gaza plans to exchange 400 Palestinian prisoners held in Israel for 40 Israeli hostages, Axios reported Sunday, citing unnamed US officials.
In particular, the Palestinian Hamas movement is expected to release «about 40 people, including women, female military personnel, men over 50 years of age and persons with serious illnesses.» In exchange, Israel undertakes to release approximately 400 Palestinian prisoners, including 15 convicted of murdering Israelis.
As the portal notes, US President Joe Biden, in contacts with the leadership of Egypt and Qatar, insists that Israel and Hamas reach an agreement before the start of the war. the month of Ramadan, which this year begins on March 11.
The draft agreement also includes a pause in hostilities of approximately six weeks, as well as the beginning of a gradual return of Palestinians to the northern Gaza Strip.
