
OMSK, March 7An accountant of the Omsk branch of Russian Post was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison for embezzling 16 million rubles, the press service of the regional prosecutor's office said.
It turned out that the accountant ordered her subordinate to prepare payment orders. They contained justification for the transfer of money received to the Post Office account for payment of utility services to a number of companies registered in the name of her friends.
«Subsequently, the owners of the organizations returned this money to the convict. Thus, in the period from August 2001 to May 2004, she managed to steal more than 16 million rubles,» the press service clarified.
In 2004, the woman quit. She left Omsk and her whereabouts were established only 18 years later. The Central District Court of Omsk found her guilty under the article “fraud on an especially large scale.”
«The court sentenced her to 3 years and 6 months of imprisonment in a general regime correctional colony, ordering her to pay in full to the Federal Postal Service of the Omsk Region, a branch of Russian Post JSC, for the damage caused,» the press added. — departmental service.
