The security forces came to search the place of registration of libertarian Pavel Chalov in the village of Bezenchuk, Samara Region. Chalov himself reported this to the human rights project “OVD-Info”.
The activist’s mother was in the house. After the search, she was taken to the FSB department in the city of Chapaevsk. According to Chalov, the security forces told her that they were “training those who may be involved in the bridge explosion.”
The explosion on the railway bridge near Chapaevsk occurred on March 4. The bridge supports, as Interfax reported, were not destroyed, but the railway track itself was damaged.
On the same day, the State Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine commented on the explosion. “The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine confirms the fact that the railway bridge across the Chapaevka River in the Samara region has been disabled,” the intelligence service said in a statement, quoted by RBC Ukraine. The Main Intelligence Directorate said that the bridge was used to transport military cargo, including engineering ammunition, which is produced at the Polymer plant in Chapaevsk.
The day before, the press service of the Kuibyshev Railway reported that train traffic on the Samara section Zvezda — Chapaevsk was resumed along one route. After the explosion, the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case of sabotage (clause “a” of Part 2 of Article 281 of the Criminal Code).
