The Orenburg governor reported the death of local pilots in an Il-76 crash in the Ivanovo region
Governor of the Orenburg region Denis Pasler said that there were pilots on board the Il-76 military transport that crashed today in the Ivanovo region from his region.
“By a fatal coincidence, there were also Orenburg pilots on board,” the official said.
He clarified that the dead pilots served in the 117th military transport aviation regiment, and expressed condolences to the families.
Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Defense said that there were eight crew members and seven passengers on board. According to the statement, “the cause of the disaster was a fire in one of the engines during takeoff.”
