UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres last month sent letters to Russian President Vladimir Putin, Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky , said the Secretary General's spokesman Stephane Dujarric. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.

Dujarric noted that the letters relate to the issue of safety of navigation in the Black Sea. According to him, negotiations are ongoing, their goal is to ensure the preservation of trade and supplies, as well as the safety of ships.

“Food and trade routes must be safe, continuous and predictable,” said the representative of the UN Secretary General, emphasizing the importance shipping in the Black Sea for the world food market. According to him, the situation has improved recently, but problems remain, and the costs of delivering food are rising.
