Reportedly, the incident took place while the ShEPPS was flying near Kaliningrad. At the same time, The Times, the plane of the Minister of Defense was not equipped with special equipment to counter the electronic warfare system, since at one time it was considered too expensive.
As stated in the article, the British Ministry of Defense decided to save money, and “could not afford allow you to pay for” anti-missile jammers and protection against communication interference. Reportedly, the “savings” amounted to about £200 million (more than 23 billion rubles).
The publication notes that the case ended in a scandal, and they will no longer save on electronic defense.
