The FSB reported on the detention of a 62-year-old Russian who, “at the direction of Ukrainian intelligence,” was planning an explosion on the railway tracks of the Trans-Siberian Railway in the Sverdlovsk region. The department's press release is quoted by RIA Novosti.
A case was opened against the detainee for attempted terrorist attack (Part 3 of Article 30 of the Criminal Code, paragraph “a” of Part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code), the court sent him to a pre-trial detention center.
The intelligence service showed a photo of a man with the flag of the State Intelligence Service of Ukraine and a video of his detention and interrogation; however, exactly when and where these videos were filmed is unknown.
According to the FSB, the Russian was recruited in Lvov, then he “underwent sabotage training and was sent to Russia to carry out terrorist attacks by overturning trains carrying cargo in the interests of the Northern Military District, using homemade devices for derailing trains.” .
On camera, the detainee says that he “wrote a receipt for assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” and then went to Kyiv “for instructions” on making an explosive device. In the video, he adds that he came to Tugulym through Moldova, Turkey, Moscow and Salekhard.
The FSB officers also reported that they “seized from the target” money allegedly transferred by Ukrainian intelligence, “devices for communicating with the curator and for overturning trains.”
The day before, the FSB announced the detention of a resident of the Krasnodar Territory, born in 2002, who is suspected of preparing a terrorist attack in the administration buildings of energy companies and social facilities in Bryansk. According to the security forces, the detainee is one of the members of the “Freedom of Russia” legion.
