MOSCOW, March 20 Head of the Duma faction » New people» Alexey Nechaev, at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, proposed introducing a position responsible for demography in Russia, suggesting that this could be a minister or a deputy prime minister in charge of the issue.
Putin met on Tuesday evening with the leaders of the Duma factions.
«Many people say that in our country there are no people responsible for demography. Well, someone calls you that you are responsible, but it is impossible for our president to be responsible for everything. He does his job, well, let him also somehow unload,” Nechaev said.
According to him, in Russia “some of the demography issues are in one department, some are in another, some are in a third.”
“Whether to create a ministry or, for example, to create a supervising deputy prime minister — this is a task that needs to be discussed,” Nechaev said.
Earlier during the meeting, the leader of “A Just Russia — For Truth” Sergei Mironov proposed to the president to create a Ministry of Demography within the Cabinet of Ministers.
