MOSCOW, March 18 The Royal Mint of Great Britain issued a coin with the image of the Millennium Falcon spaceship, the pilot of which was one of the main characters from the Star Wars film series Han Solo.
“The Millennium Falcon landed on the official British coin today (March 18) as the Royal Mint unveiled its latest Star Wars collectible coins and bars,” the mint said on its website.
The new series is dedicated to the iconic ships from the film series: in particular, coins will be issued with images of fighters of the galactic empire and the rebel alliance, as well as the second Death Star.
"Star Wars" were created by George Lucas in the early 1970s. Six episodes (the first and second trilogy of three episodes) of the film saga were released in 1977, 1980, 1983, 1999, 2002 and 2005. In October 2012, Lucas sold Lucasfilm for $4.05 billion to Walt Disney Corporation. Then it became known that Disney was planning a sequel to Star Wars. In 2015, the seventh episode of the film franchise was released — the beginning of the third trilogy, in 2017 — the eighth, and in 2019 — the last, ninth film.
