The author of the telegram channel “Cynical Komyak” was sentenced to six years in prison due to posts about the arson of military registration and enlistment offices

The First Western District Military Court in St. Petersburg sentenced Nikolai Farafanov, a blogger from Komi, to six years in a general regime colony because of publications about the arson of military registration and enlistment offices. This was reported by the Komiinform agency.

Farafanov, the author of the telegram channel “Cynical Komyak”, was found guilty in the case of calls for terrorism (Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code). He was sentenced via video conference from the Supreme Court of the Komi Republic in Syktyvkar.

In addition to the actual sentence, the court also banned the blogger from administering websites and pages on social networks for three years.

As Sirena writes, posts with phrases became the reason for the criminal case against Farafanov “Burn the military registration and enlistment office — save your son” and “A very commendable incident.” The search of the blogger’s house and his arrest in the city of Vuktyl became known in September 2023.

According to the prosecution, from February 24 to September 23, 2022, Farafonov, “who was negatively disposed towards the activities of the President of the Russian Federation and government bodies, Russian authorities in connection with the conduct of the SVO, a criminal intent arose: to post in the telegram channel “Cynical Komyak” materials with public calls for terrorist activities.”

In October 2022, Farafonov was fined 30 thousand rubles due to posts in a telegram channel under the article on “discrediting” the Russian army (20.3.3 of the Administrative Code). He did not pay the fine on time, which is why he was fined another 30 thousand rubles.

According to the Rosshtraf project, which helped a resident of Vuktyl with collecting money, he called the letter Z at the Syktyvkar Philharmonic a swastika. Farafonov also wrote that “in Ukraine, children are suffering and dying, to whom employees of the Russian Guard brought the Russian world at bayonets.” It is not known precisely because of which publications the fine was imposed: the judge excluded some of the posts listed in the protocol due to the expiration of the statute of limitations.
