ST. PETERSBURG, March 30. On April 16, the Arbitration Court of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region will consider the claim of PJSC Gazprom against the Austrian company OMV Exploration & Production GmbH (a subsidiary of OMV), follows from the case materials.
«Accept the application (statement of claim) for proceedings… Assign the case to trial… Date and time of the court hearing 04/16/2024 09.25,» is reported in the case card on the «Electronic Justice» portal.
The claims have not yet been specified. Gazprom's claim was registered on March 22.
In February, Austrian Energy Minister Leonor Gewessler announced plans to explore options for exiting long-term contracts between OMV and Gazprom. They are valid until 2040. Later, OMV clarified that in order to refuse Russian gas, legislators need to create a legal basis; if necessary, the company will be able to supply consumers in Austria with 100% non-Russian gas.
