MOSCOW, March 31 The Telegram messenger has launched monetization — now the authors of channels with an audience of more than 1 thousand will receive 50% of the income from advertising that is displayed in them, the messenger’s website says.
“From this day on, owners of public channels with 1 thousand or more subscribers can receive 50% of the income from advertising shown in their channel as a reward,” the message says.
It is noted that to ensure payment for advertising and withdrawal of funds, the company will use the TON blockchain, which in turn is not available to users from Russia, Ukraine, Palestine and Israel and some other countries.
According to information from the messenger, withdrawals of funds will become available to channel authors in the coming weeks on the Fragment platform. They said that income from the monetization program can be withdrawn without commission or used to pay for advertisements in Telegram, collection addresses or drawings for Premium subscriptions.
Previously, the founder of the messenger, Pavel Durov, announced that the Telegram advertising platform will open in March in almost 100 new countries, channel owners will be able to receive half of any income that the messenger receives from displaying advertising on their channels.
Later, leading analyst of Mobile Research Group Eldar Murtazin reported that monetization of channels in Russia and a number of other countries will not work — in these markets there is already an advertising business model, according to which advertising is purchased in blocks for a long period, adding that such The monetization model is technically difficult to organize in Russia: for example, payments to foreign agents would be a violation of the law.
In February, Durov announced in his Telegram channel that the messenger will limit the share of ownership of the Toncoin (TON) cryptocurrency at 10% of the volume of all issued these tokens after the introduction of channel monetization.
