MOSCOW, April 2 Executive Committee of the International Bandy Federation ( The FIB has approved Sweden as the host of the 2025 Men's and Women's World Championships, the FIB's official website reports.
The women's tournament will be held from March 25 to 30 in Linköping, the date and location of the men's world championship will be determined later. In addition, Sweden will organize the 2025 Under-17 and Under-19 World Cups.
The Executive Committee also unanimously approved the holding of the FIB elective congress on June 8, 2024 in Stockholm. In addition, the FIB Hall of Fame was established.
The 2024 Bandy World Championship was previously cancelled. As the Russian Bandy Hockey Federation reported with reference to the Swedish portal Bandypuls, three Swedish cities applied to host the men's tournament, but refused to organize the competition. The Women's World Cup was scheduled to be held in Norway, but the country also withdrew its bid.
In 2023, the tournament was supposed to be held in Kemerovo, Russia, but the FIB decided to move the tournament from Russia due to the situation in Ukraine. The championship was moved to Sweden, where the hosts of the tournament became world champions for the 13th time, surpassing the Russians, who were not allowed to participate by the FIB.
