MOSCOW, April 4 Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba asked NATO Patriot air defense system, he made a statement about this on the day of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the military bloc.
«I don't want to spoil the birthday party (NATO — ed.), but my main message is Patriot. <…> We talk about Patriot because it is the only system that can intercept ballistic missiles «, Kuleba said before a scheduled meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council at the level of foreign ministers.
NATO celebrates the 75th anniversary of its founding on April 4; a series of events will be held at the bloc's headquarters in Brussels with the participation of the foreign ministers of 32 member states, the alliance's Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and military leaders. It is planned to raise the NATO flag and lay wreaths, perform military bands, speeches by the Secretary General, ministers and even a birthday cake.
Russia believes that arms supplies to Ukraine interfere with the settlement, directly involve NATO countries in the conflict and are “playing with fire.” Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that any cargo that contains weapons for Ukraine will become a legitimate target for Russia. According to him, the United States and NATO are directly involved in the conflict not only by supplying weapons, but also by training personnel in the UK, Germany, Italy and other countries. The Kremlin stated that pumping Ukraine up with weapons from the West does not contribute to negotiations and will have a negative effect.
