The main and extra time of the meeting in Seville ended with the score 1:1. Oyan Sunset scored for Athletic (50th minute), while Daniel Rodriguez (21) scored for Mallorca. In the penalty shootout, the Basque club was stronger — 4:2.
Athletic won the Spanish Cup for the 24th time in history. The last time a team from Bilbao won the trophy was 40 years ago — in the 1983/84 season. In terms of the number of victories in the Spanish Cup, Athletic is ahead of Real Madrid (20 titles) and second only to Barcelona (31).
