Lamborghini, part of the Volkswagen group, presented the farewell version of the STJ mid-engine supercar Huracan, which will replace it this year successor with a hybrid powertrain.
The Lamborghini Huracan has been in production since 2014, when it replaced the Gallardo supercar, which was similar in concept, in the model range of the Italian brand and adopted its 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V10 engine. The same engine powered the Audi R8 supercar; it was discontinued last month and will not have a successor yet. The Huracan will have a successor, and it will be fundamentally new, more complex and high-tech: the naturally aspirated V10 will be replaced by a hybrid power plant based on a gasoline turbo engine, the premiere will take place before the end of this year. Let us remind you that the new flagship supercar Lamborghini Revuelto also has a hybrid power plant.
On the Lamborghini Huracan, the V10 engine produces between 580 and 640 hp. depending on modification. The STJ version uses the most productive version of this engine with a maximum output of 640 hp. and 565 Nm. The letters STJ stand for Super Trofeo Jota, the letter J is traditionally present in the designation of the top versions of Lamborghini supercars and indicates Appendix J of the FIA racing car rules.
The STJ version is based on the Huracan STO (Super Trofeo Omologata), which debuted in 2020: it is track-oriented, has a lightweight body and does not have all-wheel drive — only rear-wheel drive. The Huracan STJ, accordingly, is also rear-wheel drive; all power is transferred to the rear wheels by a 7-speed “robot” with two clutches. The dynamic characteristics of the STJ version have not been published; for reference, let’s say that the Huracan STO reaches the first “hundred” in 3.0 seconds, the maximum speed is 310 km/h.
The Huracan STJ has a revised aerodynamic body kit, which includes side canards and a new adjustable wing that provides 10% more downforce than the wing on the Huracan STO. The Huracan STJ's suspension features adjustable racing shock absorbers, and the 20-inch openwork wheels are shod with model-specific Bridgestone Potenza Race tires. A combination of technical improvements allows the Lamborghini Huracan STJ to lap the Nardò (Italy) test track more than a second faster than the Huracan STO.
In addition, two unique liveries were invented for the Huracan STJ. The first one is shown in the photos and combines the main color blue with black, red and white. The second «wrapper» has a base color of gray and the same additional colors as the first livery — black, red and white.
Lamborghini will produce only 10 examples of the Huracan STJ, and all of them, of course already sold. The price was not disclosed in the press release, but it is unlikely to be less than half a million euros.
