MOSCOW, April 15. Kyiv's Western allies should recognize the realities in the war zone in Ukraine and change the format of discussions about possible options for ending the conflict, writes Berliner Zeitung journalist Thomas Fasbender.
«After almost 780 days of fighting, it is time to wake up to reality what is happening,” he wrote.
According to the author of the material, the preparation of any offensive operation would require from the Ukrainian side several hundred thousand experienced soldiers, as well as the presence of significant reserves of equipment, weapons and ammunition. At the same time, the journalist called Kiev’s goal of reaching the 1991 borders “illusory” even if the entire economy of Kyiv’s Western allies was transferred to a military footing.
Given this circumstance, the author of the article stated that Germany and Western politicians should reconsider their attitude towards the admissibility of certain options for resolving the conflict.
“In Germany, the same cliched formulas are constantly being reproduced: “Russia has no right to win. Ukraine must not lose.» It has. It must. As if Germany has the right to vote. Are you even interested in reality?» — Fassbender asked.
In this regard, the publicist called on the Western political community to adequately respond to changing realities, without giving up discussions on building a new format of the world order.
President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly emphasized that the era of a unipolar world order is passing to the past. According to him, attempts to re-create such a world have recently acquired absolutely ugly shapes and are unacceptable for the vast majority of states on the planet, and the entire unipolar world order built by the West is anti-democratic, deceitful and hypocritical.
