As the city administration reported, on April 14 at 08.00 (06:00 Moscow time) the water level in the Tobol River was 491 cm.
«The water level in Tobol continues to rise. In Kurgan on April 15 at 08:00 it is 631 cm, +12 cm in 2 hours,” the message says.
Earlier, the head of the region, Vadim Shumkov, reported that at six meters, flooding of the right bank part of the Tobol and the low part of the left bank would begin.
A state of emergency on a regional scale has been introduced in the Kurgan region.
Unprecedented flood
The regions of the Southern Urals faced record floods this year. The most difficult situation is in the Orenburg region. On April 5, the dam that protected Orsk from the waters of the Urals broke through. Authorities carried out mass evacuations. On Sunday, the water level in the Orenburg region began to decline for the first time.
A state of emergency on a federal scale has been introduced in the region. The regional government estimates the estimated damage from the flood at 21 billion rubles.
A state of emergency is also in effect in the Tyumen region. Today, the evacuation of two villages began there. 51 settlements, 1,847 houses and 7,291 people are at risk of flooding. The most tense situation with the release of water onto the floodplains is expected by April 20, with a peak on April 23-25.
