According to the Ural Hydrometeorological Center, from April 15 to 18, the water level in the Tobol River near Kurgan and downstream will continue to rise, sharply on some days. The water level is expected to exceed the levels of an unfavorable phenomenon (700 centimeters) and a dangerous phenomenon (850 centimeters), flooding of coastal areas located within the river floodplain, flooding of floodplain lakes, channels and oxbow lakes.
A regional-scale emergency regime has been introduced in the Kurgan region. According to the forecast of the main department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation for the flood period, 62 settlements, 4,300 houses, 5,550 household plots, 600 summer cottages may be flooded in the region, and 18,718 people may fall into the emergency zone.
According to the State Emergency Service, as of April 15, 309 residential buildings and 571 household plots remain flooded in 5 municipal districts (Belozersky, Pritobolny, Zverinogolovsky, Kurtamyshsky, Ketovsky).
