MOSCOW, April 19 The Russian Federation and China are working on the creation of new modern aircraft, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
“A huge part of our investment cooperation is occupied by high technologies — this includes nuclear energy, the creation of new modern aircraft, and much more,” he said in an interview with radio stations Sputnik, Moscow Speaks and Komsomolskaya Pravda.
According to him, trade between the Russian Federation and China will continue to grow after record figures were set in 2023. He also added that he sees nothing wrong with the large number of Chinese goods in Russia, including cars.
Russia and China are working on the CR929 wide-body long-haul passenger aircraft project. In September 2023, Vladimir Putin stated that negotiations on wide-body aircraft with China had been going on for a long time, but there was progress.
CR929 is a new generation wide-body long-range aircraft, which aircraft manufacturers in Russia and China are working on jointly. The basic version of the CR929-600 in a three-class configuration will be capable of carrying 280 passengers over a distance of up to 12,000 km. A modification with an extended fuselage (CR929–700) will be able to carry 320 passengers and transport them over a distance of up to 10,000 km. A modification with a short fuselage (CR929–500) will accommodate 250 passengers and provide a flight range of 14,000 kilometers.
