
ST. PETERSBURG, April 26 Head of the faction United Russia Vladimir Vasiliev, when asked whether United Russia will support Mikhail Mishustin’s candidacy for the post of Prime Minister, said, “we don’t know who will be represented.”
«You know, I think this is such a wrong question. We don't know who will be represented,» he said. Vasiliev noted that the current composition of the Cabinet of Ministers “has shown the ability to solve complex problems in modern conditions.”
When asked whether deputies would discuss candidates for the new government on May 8, he replied that he could not yet say the exact date. “I haven’t given figures for a long time that I don’t know for sure. But it will happen in the near future,” added the head of the United Russia faction.
In March, presidential elections were held in Russia, in which the current head of state, Vladimir Putin, won. By law, the government resigns on the day of the inauguration of the newly elected president, after which the procedure for forming a new cabinet of ministers follows. According to the new norms of the Constitution, the State Duma will approve the chairman of the government, his deputies and ministers, and the president will appoint the heads of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Justice after consultations with the Federation Council.
