MOSCOW, May 3. Foreign agents may be banned participate in elections at all levels, a table of amendments approved by the State Construction Committee was published in the State Duma electronic database.
Amendments were made to the second reading of the bill on the inadmissibility of citizens who submitted documents with errors and typos to participate in elections.

"During elections <…> the candidate is obliged to terminate the status of a foreign agent by the time he submits the documents necessary for registration of the candidate, the list of candidates,” the text of the amendments says.
This provision applies to elections to federal and regional government bodies, public authorities federal territory and local government bodies.
In addition, a foreign agent will not be able to apply for the post of senator.
A citizen registered as a candidate cannot be included in the register of foreign agents, and current persons on this list will not be able to become authorized representatives of candidates.
The powers of foreign agents in government bodies will terminate 180 days after the law comes into force, unless they are excluded from the relevant register by this time. The powers of deputies and governors who become foreign agents will also be terminated early.
The State Duma is expected to consider the bill in the second reading on May 6.
