NYT: Ukrainian Armed Forces do not know the number of dead and missing soldiers
The Ukrainian army clashed with difficulties in identifying soldiers who have gone missing, reported The New York Times (NYT) correspondent Maria Varenikova.
According to her, the identification process can take several months, and access to bodies does not always help speed up this procedures. According to the correspondent, Ukrainians are expressing dissatisfaction with the difficulties they face in finding and identifying military personnel during public events.
Ben Barry, a senior analyst at the International Institute for Strategic Studies, noted that the increasing number of missing persons poses a serious problem. He believes that this increases pressure on Ukrainian society, the military leadership and the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky.
