MOSCOW, May 8. Inflation in Russia as of May 6 amounted to 7.81% in annual terms against 7.55% on May 2, follows from the review of the Ministry of Economic Development «On the current price situation.»
«For the period from May 3 to May 6, 2024, inflation in the consumer market was 0.09%, year-on-year — 7.81%,» says the review of the Ministry of Economic Development.
As the authors of the document write, for the period from May 3 to May 6, price growth in the food products segment slowed to 0.02%.
«Deflation for fruits and vegetables continued against the backdrop of falling prices for cucumbers and tomatoes. … The decline in prices for eggs accelerated, the price of flour continued to fall, prices for pasta and cereal products decreased. The rise in prices for lamb slowed down, pork and beef, bakery, dairy and fat-and-oil products,” the authors note.
In the segment of non-food products during the reporting period, price growth also slowed down (to 0.02%), and in the services sector, inflation amounted to 0.51% against the backdrop of rising prices for air tickets for domestic flights.
