TYUMEN, May 14. The Vagai district of the Tyumen region, where in the village of Bolshoi Karagai there is a flood on the Irtysh River and 66 houses are under threat of flooding, is preparing to evacuate the population and is strengthening protective structures, said the regional governor Alexander Moor.
«Assessed how work is going on strengthening protective structures in the village of Bolshoi Karagay. This settlement is the first to encounter the flood on the Irtysh River… And judging by the situation in the village of Ust-Ishim, Omsk region, which is located upstream, the water will continue to flow. Now we are paying all attention to evacuating the population from the danger zone. 66 houses are under threat of flooding,” Moor wrote in his Telegram channel.
According to the governor, in Bolshoy Karagay the dangerous phenomenon level has already been exceeded; over the past three days, the water has risen by 60 centimeters. To protect populated areas, it is necessary to create a supply of bags of soil and patrol embankments around the clock, Moor noted.
