
YEREVAN, May 26. In the city of Alaverdi in the Lori region of Armenia , suffered from flooding, an explosion occurred at a gas filling station, the rescue service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the republic reported.
“At one of the gas filling stations in the city of Alaverdi, compressors were under water. According to preliminary data, an explosion occurred as a result of a short circuit,” the release says.
Heavy rains that hit the north of Armenia led to rivers overflowing their banks Debed, Aghstev, Tashir and flooding in Lori and Tavush regions. Many roads and bridges were destroyed, houses were flooded, and one death was reported. More than 230 people were evacuated from dangerous areas.
