MOSCOW, June 1 French fries in American catering have risen in price by 134% over 5 years, and in Russia during the same time — by 70%, calculated for the Check Index analytics of the OFD Platform company.
«If in the US the estimated growth in prices for French fries from 2019 to 2024 is 134%, in Russia the same figure is almost two times less — 70%,» analysts compared prices in domestic and American catering. 
Thus, according to their data, in the first quarter of this year in Russia, a serving cost an average of 85 rubles, while in the same period in 2019 it cost an average of 50 rubles.
Experts note that French fries remain one of the “traffic-generating links” in the products of fast food and food establishments in general. Thus, in Russia, the number of purchases of French fries in public catering this year increased by 9% compared to pre-Covid 2019. 
< br />Changes in prices for it, according to the authors of the study, are most often caused by a general increase in the costs of food establishments against the backdrop of inflation, and not just by the rise in price of the necessary ingredients for cooking.
Separately, analysts calculated data for French fries in the form of a semi-finished product (frozen). Thus, the average price for it in Russia in the first quarter of 2024 was 199 rubles, while in 2019 it was 129 rubles. This is an increase of 54%. The number of purchases increased by 4.5 times.
