
ROSTOV-ON-DON, June 2 A high alert regime was introduced in the Tarasovsky district of the Rostov region due to a large forest fire, said the deputy governor of the region Sergei Bodryakov .
The fire in the forestry broke out on Saturday afternoon. By evening, the fire had covered more than 43 hectares, currently its area is 122 hectares.
“»A high alert regime has been introduced in the Tarasovsky district due to a forest fire… Hot and dry weather complicates the extinguishing, but firefighters are doing everything possible to localize the fire as soon as possible,” said Bodryakov.
He added that at present there is no threat to populated areas, there are enough forces and means to fight the fire.
In total, almost 280 people and 75 pieces of equipment are involved in extinguishing the forest fire, including the Mi-8 helicopter of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations; it made 12 drops with a total volume of 42 thousand liters.
