INNOPOLIS (Tatarstan), June 3 The first stage of the largest data processing and storage center in the Volga region, necessary to ensure Russia’s sovereignty in the field of critical information infrastructure, opened on Monday Tatarstan IT city Innopolis, the correspondent reports.
The solemn ceremony was attended by the head of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and the general director of the Rosatom state corporation Alexey Likhachev.
The head of Tatarstan noted that this is the largest project in the Volga region, and it is important that the technological solutions for the new center are developed taking into account the import substitution strategy and meet the most modern standards of reliability and safety.
Data processing centers play a special role in ensuring sovereignty in critical information infrastructure and increasing the competitiveness of Russian products, Likhachev said in turn.
“We have been entrusted with a number of serious areas by the President of the Russian Federation and the government. The first and most important is the creation of sovereignty in critical information infrastructure. This is the creation of software hardware systems, their replication, implementation of maintenance, complete cybersecurity of these and other objects. And, of course, development of heavy industrial software for industries… This is an integral part of increasing the competitiveness of Russian industrial products,” Likhachev said at the ceremony.
The corporation, according to him, will do all this together with scientists and regions.
“Data centers occupy a special place in this work, because these huge volumes of information, their analysis, and corresponding calculations require, firstly, a lot of power — the power of computers, the power of storage cells, and (secondly) absolute security,” the head emphasized «Rosatom».
The project is being implemented by a subsidiary of Rosatom, a resident of the Innopolis SEZ, Atomdata-Innopolis JSC. The company said that the main technological equipment was designed and manufactured in Russia, import substitution is more than 95%. The first stage of the Innopolis data center consists of four computer rooms, each of which is designed for 250 rack spaces. The company expects that the first stage will be fully loaded by the end of this year.
In the future, the facility will consist of two buildings with a total area of more than 23 thousand square meters. Two lines will total 2,000 rack spaces. The facility's power is 16 MW. Data center availability level – 99.982%.
