TYUMEN, June 3 In Tyumen, criminal cases have been opened against a man who tried to set fire to the Church named after Dimitri Donskoy on Monday evening under articles of vandalism and deliberate destruction or damage property, reports the press service of SUSK for the Tyumen region.
Earlier it became known that the police were taking measures to detain a man who, using a Molotov cocktail, attempted to set fire to the facade of the temple in the name of the Holy Blessed Prince Dimitry Donskoy on Republic Street in the city of Tyumen.

“A video recording was revealed in which an unknown man throws a flammable liquid into the temple building. … After the arson, the man fled … on a bicycle, but was identified by law enforcement officers. … The investigative authorities … opened two criminal cases under Article 214 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (vandalism), 167 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (deliberate destruction or damage to property),” the press service of the regional investigative committee stated in a statement.

It is noted that the fire was quickly extinguished and there were no casualties. The circumstances of the incident are currently being established.

The press service of the regional prosecutor's office explained that due to significant public outcry, the prosecutor's office withdrew the investigation materials into the fact of arson from the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and transferred them to the Investigation Department of the Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Tyumen Region, where criminal cases were immediately opened. The identity of the arsonist has been established, and measures are being taken to detain him. The progress and results of the investigation of the case are under the control of the regional prosecutor.
According to the website of the Church of All Saints in the city of Tyumen, the temple-chapel of Demetrius Donskoy has military status, daily prayer for the defense of the Fatherland is performed there, and the Tyumen residents who died in the line of military duty are commemorated.
