MOSCOW, June 3. A rare detail of a spear and arrowheads of the 14th century that belonged to participants in the Battle of Kulikovo was discovered by archaeologists at the Kulikovo Field State Museum-Reserve in the Tula region, the museum’s press service reported.
Another find was two iron stalked arrowheads. The first — oval-elongated — is traditional for archers of the era of the Battle of Kulikovo, and the second is an armor-piercing type and is considered rarer. As the expert explained, such tips were intended to accurately hit a warrior, piercing chain mail or plate armor.
“To discover one relic of the 14th century, you have to shovel tons of soil, sifting out tens of kilograms of metal debris that has nothing to do with 1380. In this regard, each new find has enormous scientific, cultural and sacred value. These relics, for example, help detail the scale of the battle, as well as expand the categories of weapons used during the battle,” Stolyarov said.

He emphasized that elements of weapons were found on the southern periphery of the epicenter of the battle, which once again confirms the correctness of previously made conclusions about the location of the collision and allows us to somewhat expand the search area.
According to the expert, the finds have already undergone primary conservation. After complete restoration, they will be transferred to the museum's funds and presented in the hall of relics of the Kulikovo Field museum complex.
