The Tomsk City Duma voted to revoke the mandate of Ksenia Fadeeva, the former head of the Tomsk headquarters of Alexei Navalny, who was sentenced to nine years in prison in the case of an “extremist community.” TV2 reports this.
20 out of 24 deputies present voted for the early termination of Fadeeva’s powers. Three members of the Yabloko faction spoke out against it, and one deputy abstained.
The deputies decided to deprive Fadeeva of her deputy mandate due to the entry into force of her sentence. She was elected to the Tomsk City Duma in September 2020.
The former head of Navalny’s headquarters in Omsk was sentenced to nine years in prison at the end of December 2023. She was found guilty of organizations activities of the “extremist community” using official position and participation in a non-profit organization that infringes on the personality and rights of citizens.
The reason for the persecution of the oppositionist was her work at Navalny’s headquarters. The case was considered behind closed doors.
