Putin discussed trade and the international agenda with Turkish Foreign Minister Fidan
According to the Kremlin press service, on June 11, Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.
The leaders discussed a number of key issues related to economic cooperation, political stability and crisis management.
Vladimir Putin expressed satisfaction with the strengthening of friendly relations with Turkey, emphasizing that in 2023 an absolute record was set in trade turnover between the two countries. However, there was some decline in early 2024 due to price adjustments for key export and import commodities. Putin expressed gratitude to Turkey for its desire to contribute to resolving crises, including the situation in Ukraine.
The Russian President also noted the meeting of Minister Fidan with colleagues from the BRICS countries in Nizhny Novgorod and expressed support for Turkey’s interest in participating in this association . Putin emphasized the importance of jointly solving common problems and the desire to be closer to other BRICS member countries.
The Kremlin representative emphasized that there are many important topics for discussion on the agenda of Russian-Turkish relations. The meeting between Putin and Fidan was announced earlier by presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov.
