Two Omsk teenagers were detained because of the inscription “suckers” on the monument to those killed in the Great Patriotic War

The investigation released two 17-year-old teenagers suspected of desecrating symbols of Russian military glory (part 3 of article 354.1 of the Criminal Code) on their own recognizance. This was reported by the Omsk department of the Investigative Committee.

According to investigators, on the night of June 10, teenagers desecrated a monument to those killed in the Great Patriotic War in the village of Medvezhye, Isilkul district. They painted “offensive inscriptions and symbols” on the monument’s slabs and then fled.

A photograph of the monument was published by the telegram channel “Omsk Incident”. The photo is partially blurred, but on it you can see an inscription similar to the word “suckers”, as well as a schematic image of a penis.

During the interrogation, the teenagers said that they painted the monument from a can of spray paint that was left after repairing a motorcycle, the press service of the Omsk Ministry of Internal Affairs reports. According to one of the suspects, he “realized the immorality of his act” and that same night tried to erase the inscriptions with gasoline, but failed.

According to police, the teenagers also spray-painted a stop in Medvezhye.
