Security forces detained two more members of Basayev and Khattab's gang
The Russian Investigative Committee and the FSB reported that law enforcement officers detained two more members of the gang of Shamil Basayev and Khattab, who took part in an attack on military personnel in Chechnya in 1999.
It was specified that Alimkhan Kadrashov from Lyantor and Murtazali Alimgireyev, who lives in Novy Urengoy, were detained.
According to investigators, they were part of a gang that, under the leadership of Basayev and Khattab, fired at Russian military personnel in the village of Chervlennaya in Chechnya. As a result of the attack, 15 Russian military personnel were killed and 28 were injured.
«Kadrashov and Alimgireyev have now been charged with committing crimes under Article 279, Part 2 of Article 209, Article 317 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation,” the Investigative Committee noted.
The FSB added that the Surgut City Court and the Novy Urengoy City Court ordered that they be taken into custody.
