KAZAN, June 14, Adela Ziatdinova. Three-time Olympic champion in synchronized swimming Svetlana Kolesnichenko said that she could not comment on the actions of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), because she initially did not have a chance to get to the Olympics in Paris.
IOC Communications Director Mark Adams said on Wednesday that there is no exact deadline for the admission of Russians to the Games. At the moment, Russians have won Games licenses in seven sports — wrestling, judo, taekwondo, cycling (on the road), rowing, trampolining, tennis. In Paris they will be able to perform in a neutral status, but their compliance with the necessary criteria must be assessed by a special IOC commission consisting of three people.
““I had no choice about the Olympic Games, they immediately said that team sports are not allowed. Therefore, I cannot say anything, I am generally an athlete, and an athlete should not perform political functions and talk about it,” she said Kolesnichenko.
The admission of Russian athletes in a neutral status to the Olympic Games in Paris is handled by a three-person IOC-appointed panel, consisting of IOC Vice President Nicole Hevertz, the famous former Spanish basketball player Pau Gasol and Olympic table tennis champion from South Korea Yoo Seung Min.
