2022 Olympic champion Anna Shcherbakova changes lives, she I haven’t trained under coach Eteri Tutberidze for six months now. The sport talks about a new stage in the life of a figure skater and why she will probably return to her native ice.
They joked about overcoming her. Envious people periodically joke about Anna Shcherbakova’s career, that it, they say, consists of continuous overcoming. Although in reality there is no reason to laugh here. Her path in sports was indeed not easy — not outstanding jumping abilities in childhood, a relationship with her lifelong coach (Eteri Tutberidze), a fateful Russian championship with pneumonia, broken skates a couple of days before her personal Olympic tournament…
Anna always seemed to have circumstances that made her just want to say “stop.” But she did not allow herself such luxury. She probably realized that in a frenzied competition, stopping means losing, and losing in conditions when everyone around you is already betting on anyone, but not on you, is impossible under any circumstances.
She put everything on the altar of victories, including her health. Therefore, it is not at all surprising that when the main title — Olympic gold — was won, Anna simply did not want to torture herself further. True, in the spring-summer of 2023, she thought about returning and even planned to work at the pre-season training camp of the Tutberidze team to see how her body could cope with the stress, but then mononucleosis confused all the cards.
Since then, the champion has had no serious intentions of returning. Therefore, today’s news about the termination of Tutberidze’s training is purely a formality. Alina Zagitova, Alexandra Trusova, and Evgenia Medvedeva experienced something similar in their time. In a word, everyone who went “on pause”, but in fact — for good.
< br>PR on her personal life In the time freed from sports, Anna began to taste free life. From a young age, everyone noted that she had excellent speech — and now there is documentary evidence of this in the form of work on television. She hosted “Ice Age” together with Alina Zagitova and Alexei Yagudin, and many unbiased fans agreed that, compared to her more experienced colleagues, Anna was at least not lost.
The champion’s diplomacy and delicacy led to the fact that Only large brands came to her with advertising contracts — and over the past couple of years, little has changed; Anna is popular with both Chinese fans and business in this country.
Of course, there were also rumors about his personal life. The Super.ru portal published the news that the champion had allegedly been in a relationship with Nizhny Novgorod footballer Maxim Shnaptsev for more than a year, attaching a selfie of the couple to the material, to which, logically, only the guys themselves had access. Anna, however, reacted to this quite quickly and stated that she had never had a serious relationship with Shnaptsev, and the young man, they say, found a way to promote himself in someone else’s name.
On the one hand, I don’t want to support such behavior at all. On the other hand, such “yellow” news is a consequence of popularity, which in itself, of course, is not bad. Especially considering that in the last few months Anna has been forced to spend practically no activities — ice and not so much. The fact is that in March the skater underwent ankle surgery, and recovery after it did not go at all according to plan. The situation worsened, which is why she missed both Tutberidze’s show and, most likely, Tatiana Navka’s ice performances. And the less you appear in front of the public, the poorer your personal brand becomes.
However, there is a feeling that Anna, currently our last Olympic champion in the women’s singles, is not in danger of oblivion. In addition, she will always have the option of a coaching career. She herself has repeatedly admitted that after sports, although she began to spend more time outside the skating rink, she feels most comfortable on the ice. And, of course, they will always be waiting there. It is possible that Tutberidze is in the same team.
