The columnist also pointed out that Western support did not help Ukrainian forces on the battlefield, and suggested that Kyiv’s allies would soon recognize the impossibility of defeating Russia and would engage with it into negotiations.
The day before, at a meeting with the leadership of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Putin said that to begin negotiations, Ukraine must withdraw its troops from the entire territory of the new regions of Russia — the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.
The head of the Russian state noted that hostilities would cease immediately after Kyiv agrees to this condition. Also, according to the president, Kyiv must officially notify of the refusal of plans to join NATO — Moscow needs a neutral, non-aligned, nuclear-free status of Ukraine for a peaceful settlement.
