The Celestial brand has published images of a new model of the Tiggo 8 family, intended for the home market.
The three-row crossover Chery Tiggo 8 has long become a very extensive family. “The Founder” appeared in 2018, and later it acquired many variants that differ in design and technology. In particular, in the home line there are “prestigious” versions, which were given the Plus and Pro prefixes, and, for example, in Russia there are top-end all-wheel drive modifications with a double “surname” — Pro Max.

In April of this year, at the Beijing Auto Show, Chery demonstrated the «eight» with a modified design, mainly for representatives of foreign media, that is, the export version of the new product. Now the brand has distributed official images of the fresh crossover intended for the domestic market. In addition, the manufacturer announced its name — in its homeland, such an SUV will be sold as Tiggo 8 L.
Compared with the current “eights”, the new crossover has different bumpers with a different air intake, as well as a large “matrix” radiator grille with a mesh pattern with chrome diamonds; The side air ducts have been redesigned. The light pattern of the head optics and rear lights has changed, which nevertheless are still connected by a luminous plate across the entire width of the stern. The SUV also has traditional exterior mirrors, recessed door handles and roof rails.
Previously, it was believed that this crossover was a restyled version of one of the current G8s, which was given a new prefix. And now it turns out that the company itself is positioning the Tiggo 8 L as a separate new member of the family. However, it is possible that in foreign markets such an SUV will still be promoted as the next generation G8.
So far, the manufacturer has not officially disclosed the characteristics of the new product. Meanwhile, the day before, the certificate of this model was added to the database of the Chinese Ministry of Industry. According to the document, the overall length is 4795 mm, width is 1930 mm, height varies from 1725 to 1737 mm (depending on the version), and the distance between the axles is 2770 mm. For comparison, the Tiggo 8 Pro version for the Chinese market has a length of 4745 mm and a wheelbase of 2710 mm. There are no pictures of the interior of the new crossover yet.
According to the Ministry of Industry of the People's Republic of China, Chery Tiggo 8 L was left The “senior” engine of the current local Tiggo 8 Pro: we are talking about a 2.0-liter turbo engine with a power of 254 hp and a maximum torque of 390 Nm. It will be paired with a seven-speed robotic gearbox with a dual wet clutch. It is possible that the Chery Tiggo 8 L will have both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.
Let us note that the Elka, which has not yet entered the home market, already has an analogue… from a European brand! So, in Spain, this model turned into the Ebro S800, its production will be established in Barcelona at the former Nissan plant.
