The premium brand FangChengBao, owned by BYD, has declassified the interior of the large three-row SUV Leopard 8 (in China — Bao 8), it is equipped with a powerful plug -in a hybrid power plant and will hit the market before the end of this year.
The FangChengBao brand was launched last year, and in the BYD hierarchy it occupies a place between the luxury brand Yangwang and the premium brand Denza. Translated from Latinized Chinese into Russian, FangChengBao means “leopard formula” or “leopard equation”. In the future, the FangChengBao brand will become global, but for now it is represented only in China. FangChengBao's lineup will include only electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles. The brand's first product was the mid-size plug-in hybrid SUV Leopard 5, which entered the Chinese market in November last year. The compact electric SUV Leopard 3 and the flagship plug-in hybrid Leopard 8 should go on sale this year.
In production form, the Leopard 8 was first shown in April of this year at the Beijing Motor Show, in May it surfaced in the electronic database of the Chinese Ministry of Industry, as a result of which some of its technical characteristics became known, and today official photographs of the interior were published.

The Leopard 8 is based on the same DMO (Dual Mode Off-Road) frame platform as the Leopard 5 SUV, the internal combustion engine is located longitudinally in front, and the suspension is completely independent: the front is on double wishbones, the rear is multi-link. The Leopard 8 has a 2.0-liter gasoline turbo engine with a power of 272 hp as an internal combustion engine; it operates primarily in generator mode and charges the traction battery, but can also rotate the front wheels through an electromechanical variator. The SUV is mainly driven by two electric motors: the peak power of the front is 272 hp, the rear is 408 hp. The maximum combined output of the Leopard 8 power plant has not yet been disclosed, but it is known that the flagship SUV can accelerate to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds, the top speed is limited to 180 km/h.
Overall length of Leopard 8 is 5195 mm, width is 1994 mm, height is 1905 mm, wheelbase is 2920 mm. The approach angle is 30 degrees, the departure angle is 29 degrees. Locking is provided for cross-axle differentials. There is no center differential in principle, but its operation is simulated by electronics. The standard tire size is 275/55 R 20 or 275/50 R 21. Curb weight is 3305 kg, gross weight is 3905 kg. The permissible weight of the towed trailer is 2500 kg.
The Leopard 8's cabin has much the same boxy-nested design as the Leopard 5's, but the flagship SUV has richer trim and more intricate details, like the curved figure-eight door armrests. The three-screen front panel has a central multimedia screen larger than that of the Leopard 5. The second row of the Leopard 8 can be fitted with a traditional three-seater sofa or two separate captain's chairs with superior comfort and multiple adjustments. The gallery is strictly double. The protrusions above the windshield are lidar and radar, which means you can expect the Leopard 8 to have a very advanced set of electronic driver assistants, including for off-road driving.

The FangChengBao brand is not officially represented in Russia, but the Leopard 5 SUV is available from gray dealers. Leopard 8 will obviously also be delivered after the official launch in China.
