The opposition of Moldova demanded an investigation into the non-admission of deputies to parliament

CHISINAU, June 17 Representatives of the Moldovan opposition bloc «Victory» demand to investigate the incident that occurred last week, when unknown persons did not allow opposition deputies into the meeting room, the press service of the political force reported on Monday.
The speaker of the Moldavian parliament, Igor Grosu, on Thursday refused to give the floor to members of the opposition Pobeda bloc, turning off their microphones. In response, they blocked the parliament rostrum, protesting against the ignoring of their initiatives by the ruling Action and Solidarity party (PAS). In response to this, a ban was imposed on participation in five plenary sessions for Vasily Boli, Vadim Fotescu, Denis Ulanov, Irina Lozovan, Marina Tauber, Regina Apostolova and Alexander Nesterovsky. On Friday, unknown persons in civilian clothes did not allow opposition deputies to attend a parliamentary meeting.

“Deputies of the Pobeda bloc, illegally suspended from participating in parliamentary meetings, sent requests demanding clarification of the situation. Deputies report that they were subjected to physical pressure from unidentified persons and demand a thorough investigation. Not only is their exclusion from the meeting personal initiative of the speaker and is not supported by documents, and in the workplace they are subject to psychological and physical pressure,” says a statement published on the block’s Telegram channel.

The requests were sent to the Speaker of Parliament Grosu, the head of the Information and Security Service Alexandru Musteata and the director of the Defense and State Security Service Vasile Popa.
«It is urgent to conduct an investigation and find out the names and status of those who were there and prevented deputies from going to their rightful place. Their actions can be qualified as participation in a serious violation — obstruction of the activities of elected officials,» the opposition notes.
In Moldova, since May 2022, the opposition has been holding protests, insisting on the resignation of the Cabinet and President Maia Sandu, who is the informal leader of the ruling PDS party. The demonstrators accuse the country's authorities of failing to cope with the crisis in the economy and energy sector, as well as putting pressure on the opposition. As a result of the actions of the authorities in the country, the opposition party «Shor» and representatives of a number of other political formations, including the Party of Socialists, the parties «Renaissance» and «Chance» were banned. They regularly face searches and detention of their supporters.
