The Ministry of Industry and Trade will check data on rising prices for equipment for thermal power plants

MOSCOW, June 17 The Ministry of Industry and Trade is assessing information on rising prices for equipment for thermal power plants, and upon completion of the work will submit a report to Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak, the press service of the ministry reported.
The Russian Ministry of Energy proposed that the government consider the possibility of “reducing localization requirements” for turbines, boilers and transformers, as well as components “in the short-term planning horizon,” the Kommersant newspaper reported on Monday, citing a letter from Deputy Minister Pavel Snikkars to First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov and Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, whom the publication reviewed.

Snikkars also asked to consider the creation of new and expansion of existing plants to “meet the needs of the industry.” According to the newspaper, the issues of rising prices for equipment and delays in deliveries were discussed on May 22 at a meeting of the government commission on the development of the electric power industry.

The press service of the Ministry of Industry and Trade confirmed that the ministry is working on Novak’s instructions given as part of the last in-person government commission on the development of the electric power industry. “Currently, information on the increase in prices for this equipment is being assessed… Upon completion of this work, the corresponding report will be presented to Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation A.V. Novak,” the ministry explained.
They also noted that, according to data from a joint report of the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia and the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the change in weighted average prices last year for equipment of generating facilities in relation to 2022, depending on the type (type) of equipment, varied significantly.
«Up to half of the increase in cost is the cost of installing equipment and other related services, the costs of which have increased in recent years,» the press service of the Ministry of Industry and Trade emphasized.
According to the Council of Energy Producers (unites large generating companies), the share of domestic products in the power engineering industry was expected to reach 75% by 2024 from 45% at the start of the import substitution program, in the electrical industry — 90% versus 60 %, in the sector of equipment and materials for energy accumulation and storage systems — 80% to 50%.
