“This is an army from another world”
The Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement between Russia and the DPRK was signed on June 19 by Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong-un. The document, among other things, provides for the provision of mutual assistance in the event of aggression against one of its participants. On this basis, many immediately had a question: will North Korea send its divisions, for example, to the North Military District zone?
Military expert, military intelligence veteran, Hero of Russia, reserve colonel Rustem Klupov in a conversation with “MK” explained why North Korea's sending of military divisions is not yet possible.
According to the expert, there is no need yet to hope that a Korean division will suddenly occupy some part of the front. This will cause more problems than benefits.
– Firstly, there will be problems with the language barrier. Secondly, the problems of different weapons and support systems. Thirdly, the difference between military schools will be visible, – Colonel Klupov explains. – To solve all these problems, we need to conduct at least several joint exercises, as, for example, we previously conducted with China.
Don't think that if we now transfer Korean divisions across the country to our front, they will bring us success. Most likely, they won't even understand what is happening there.
— The Koreans have no experience in waging war, unlike Russia. It is one thing to read books about how war is waged or even study some techniques and methods of waging war in a military academy, and another thing to have combat experience. We will have to seriously improve the Korean army in the area of waging modern warfare.
Now our Ground Forces have the richest, strongest, most advanced experience in combat operations in the world. Nobody can compare with them. So the Korean divisions will not be able to fight in the same way as we do. It’s not because we don’t need personnel, we really need personnel. This is an army from another world, it will not understand what to do and how to do it. This is a completely different world.
According to the expert, military cooperation implies not only assistance with troops, but also participation in hostilities. This agreement implies that North Korea will be obliged to support us as a partner with equipment and weapons.
– North Korea has a wonderful military-industrial complex, says the expert. – Of course, questions arise about the ammunition that is produced there. But, if we send our GOSTs there and give our technologies to their enterprises, then the Koreans will master this in a few months and will give us the amount of good ammunition that we need.
