ST. PETERSBURG, June 20 A screw and a rubber ball were removed by St. Petersburg doctors from the head of a St. Petersburg resident who was admitted to the hospital with a closed head injury, reported the city health committee.
As the department reports, a patient was admitted to the Dzhanelidze Research Institute of Emergency Medicine with a diagnosis of closed craniocerebral injury. During an emergency examination, he was diagnosed, in particular, with a perforated fracture of the right temporal bone, and several foreign objects were also identified. The density of one of them corresponded to the density of the metal.
The doctors decided to operate on the man by performing a craniotomy, the health department clarifies. “The patient fell into the hands of young but experienced surgeons: Nikita Serebrennikov and Natalya Mikhailova. During surgery, a rubber ball of unknown origin and a metal screw in the substance of the brain were found in the temporalis muscle near the fracture,” the message says.

Currently, the St. Petersburg resident continues treatment at the Dzhanelidze Research Institute.
