Bastrykin: Investigative Committee is working to uncover Nazi crimes during the war

MOSCOW, June 22 Russian investigators are systematically working to solve the crimes committed by the Nazi invaders against Soviet citizens, Chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin said in an interview.
“Despite the fact that, following the results of the Nuremberg trials, the main war criminals were convicted of committing war crimes, there were other Nazi atrocities that were previously unknown. The Russian Investigative Committee is conducting systematic work throughout the country to investigate the circumstances of these crimes,” — he said.

The head of the department clarified that to investigate such crimes, a special unit was created in the Investigative Committee — the department for the investigation of war crimes, genocide and rehabilitation of Nazism.
“»The investigation studies data from declassified archives, human remains and material evidence that is found during excavations. The necessary forensic examinations are ordered, victims are identified, the location of their relatives is established, a large array of documents is analyzed, witnesses are identified and interrogated, requests are sent on legal assistance to other countries,” added the chairman of the RF IC.
