The premiere of an all-electric new product intended for the European market will take place in a couple of weeks.
The American manufacturer is still in 2020 entered into an agreement with the German concern Volkswagen. The partnership includes the implementation of several joint projects, including the production of two all-electric crossovers intended for the European market. One of them was the already presented Ford Explorer, which only has a name in common with the “regular” Explorer. The second is his closest relative, who is just getting ready for the premiere.

As previously reported, the new product, addressed to old-world fans of the brand, will have a coupe-shaped body. There is no official information about the name of the SUV yet. It is expected that the model will get the revived name Capri: we recall that one of the most prominent representatives with this name was a sports coupe, which was produced from 1968 to 1986.
The company is keeping the appearance of the new crossover secret for now. Now, on the eve of the imminent premiere, Ford has published two teasers of the future model. On one of them you can see the headlight, the design of which includes LED straight and curved lines of running lights. Judging by the picture, this SUV will not have double-decker head optics. In the second photo you can see the rear light going onto the tailgate, whose pattern also includes smooth strokes on top and a couple of “smiles” below.

The company will present the entire car in about two weeks: the presentation date was indirectly “confirmed” by the brand’s virtual chatbot, which, when communicating with customers, published the phrase “The Legend returns on July 10.” It is worth recalling that at the end of last year, photo spies caught a prototype of an SUV with a coupe-like body during tests. Those pictures formed the basis for the Ford Capri renderings created by the designer Kolesa.ru.
It is known that the Ford Capri, like the «green» Explorer, will be based on the Volkswagen modular MEB platform. This «trolley» makes them related, among other things, to the German brand's crossovers — the Volkswagen ID.4 with a regular roof shape, as well as the VW ID.5 — with a coupe-like body.

It is possible that the new Ford crossover will share its technology with the old-world Explorer: its lineup includes three «filling» options. Thus, the role of the base is played by a single 170-horsepower electric motor located on the rear axle, the average version is equipped with an electric motor with a capacity of 286 hp, the top version is equipped with a two-motor installation, the total output of which is equal to 340 hp. There are two batteries — with a capacity of 52 and 79 kW * h.
Production of the Capri SUV will be established at the facilities of the same modernized Ford head plant in Cologne (Germany), where the «green» Ford Explorer is currently produced, intended for the old-world market.
