The most unusual train station is being sold in the Moscow region — the Leninskaya station building. In January 1924 to the railway station, which was previously called Gerasimovskaya, the coffin with Lenin’s body was carried in their arms. And from the “Gorki” estate, where the leader lived and worked, to the “piece of iron” is exactly five kilometers.
In 1954, on the 30th anniversary of the leader’s death, according to the design of the classic of monumental architecture Boris Mezentsev, a station was erected — an Empire monument similar to Stalin’s high-rise buildings. They say that there was no more beautiful railway station in the entire Union than this one. The three-tiered structure is topped with a spire with a five-pointed star made of golden glass. The station is surrounded by 24 columns from the outside, and 12 more inside. But all this beauty suddenly became useless to anyone. In 2005, the station building was closed, the doors and windows were blocked with shields. However, young people gathered there and homeless people lit bonfires. In September 2020, some gopniks smashed the plaster statue of Ilyich, which stood in the center of the station, and posted it on the Internet.
In the same year, the abandoned station was put up for auction at Russian Railways. The building was bought (according to rumors, at the request of Gennady Zyuganov) by an entrepreneur, collector and admirer of Soviet aesthetics. They planned to restore the station and open the LeninSky exhibition complex there with an exhibition of artifacts from Lenin’s life. It didn't work out. And here is attempt number two…
It is not clear why such a unique monument to the Soviet past and its famous leader should not be acquired and restored in all its glory by the current Communist Party of Russia, which speaks so many words about the connection of generations and the great heritage of the Land of Soviets?
